Dubai Fashion Week - 2009


Dubai Fashion Week autumn-winter was held in the Godolphin Ballroom, Jumeirah Emirates Towers from April 5 to 9th.

It brought together more than 30 designers including Walid Atallah, Reem Ali Beljafla, HSY, Amal Murad, Salma Khan and Mariam Al Mazro.

Collections ranged from couture to prêt à porter.

Deep Purple


The team at Dubai Bike Week promised bike enthusiasts an even louder and raved up weekend as they announced Deep Purple as the headline artist at the Dubai Bike Week. Known for their thunderous performance, Deep Purple will interrupt the revving of bikes with a hard-rocking live concert set to blow the minds of their fans in the Middle East. This rocking concert took place on the second day of the Gulf Bike Expo, Friday the 20th March 2009.

Dubai experienced a fantastic combination of Dubai Bike Week , Gulf Bike Expo and a great host venue of Dubai festival City with all its convenient facilities. The 3-day bike festival was set for more exhilarating entertainment featuring Scorpion Customs leading stunt team and celebrated disc jockey DJ GQ with his stunt team of bikers, local bands including Juliana Down, Abri, Lumi, The Meerkats, Paul Akiki and Jonas Desai playing in the Piazza daily, DJs, bike competitions and much more. The Gulf Bike Expo 2009 showed the latest in bikes, ATVs, apparel, accessories, custom-designed bikes and motorcycle-related products from all major international brands from Europe, the USA, Canada, Italy and Japan.

Victory for Venus


Sixth seed Venus Williams won her 40th career Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles title with a 6-4 6-2 win over unseeded Virginie Razzano in the final of the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships. Venus Williams, currently ranked 6th, will move back to the world’s Top 5, for the first time since August 2003.

Muscat Festival


Muscat Festival is an annual celebration of traditional arts & culture.
Jam packed with activities and events the festival plays a significant part in boosting Oman’s tourism and hospitality industry. It also provides Locals with a month long extravaganza of fun, adventure, excitement and entertainment.
The festival has been running since 1998 and growing in popularity every year. In 2006 over two million visitors attended the various event. This year Muscat Municipality, the Festival’s organizer, expects attendances to top three million.
Muscat Festival is a unique showcase for Oman’s distinctive Arabian cultural heritage. In 2006 Muscat was designated UNESCO Arab Cultural Capital.

Dubai Ladies Masters (Golf) Dubai

Annika Sorenstam's farewell tournament on Sunday, shooting a final round of four-under-par 68 for a three shot victory at the Dubai Ladies Masters, the season-ending event on the Ladies European Tour. The 38-year-old Sorenstam signed off in joint seventh place after a final round of 71. In typical style, she rolled an eight foot birdie putt into the cup on the 18th hole before a packed gallery of her golfing colleagues.

Model and professional golfer Anna Rawson(pictured below) is on a mission to raise the profile of women’s golf, making it more attractive and more fashionable.
