Deep Purple


The team at Dubai Bike Week promised bike enthusiasts an even louder and raved up weekend as they announced Deep Purple as the headline artist at the Dubai Bike Week. Known for their thunderous performance, Deep Purple will interrupt the revving of bikes with a hard-rocking live concert set to blow the minds of their fans in the Middle East. This rocking concert took place on the second day of the Gulf Bike Expo, Friday the 20th March 2009.

Dubai experienced a fantastic combination of Dubai Bike Week , Gulf Bike Expo and a great host venue of Dubai festival City with all its convenient facilities. The 3-day bike festival was set for more exhilarating entertainment featuring Scorpion Customs leading stunt team and celebrated disc jockey DJ GQ with his stunt team of bikers, local bands including Juliana Down, Abri, Lumi, The Meerkats, Paul Akiki and Jonas Desai playing in the Piazza daily, DJs, bike competitions and much more. The Gulf Bike Expo 2009 showed the latest in bikes, ATVs, apparel, accessories, custom-designed bikes and motorcycle-related products from all major international brands from Europe, the USA, Canada, Italy and Japan.

Victory for Venus


Sixth seed Venus Williams won her 40th career Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles title with a 6-4 6-2 win over unseeded Virginie Razzano in the final of the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships. Venus Williams, currently ranked 6th, will move back to the world’s Top 5, for the first time since August 2003.
